Jake called me this afternoon out of the blue.

He said he made a pot of red beans and rice. He was driving to a
restaurant a friend works at to get some corn bread.  He said if I went
along on the car ride, he’d share.

I wasn’t doing much… just reading for school, and I was happy to get out.

Jake drives a beat-up old truck.  I waited outside and then climbed in
when he pulled up.

We drove for a while.  I Asked him how he made the beans.  He explained.
