# Meditation Notes ## TikTok Script I want to document some of my thoughts around meditating. First, I don't like the word "meditation." It sounds too fancy. "Silent prayer" is close to what I want, but I know the word "prayer" can antagonize people like me that had a bad time in church. ### What I do physically I like sitting on a meditation pillow, or on the edge of a big rock, or anything where my hips are lifted up a few inches above the ground, and my legs are crossed in front of me. ### Stuff I think about in my head during a session Sometimes I just sit there. Sometimes I listen to the sounds of the room until they get boring and predictable and I can ignore them. Sometimes I do more specific stuff. Here's one thing I do: #### Count nine slow breaths This is pretty hard for me! I try to inhale and exhale really slowly and count the breaths up to 9. ## Why Bother? This is a great question. After a good session, I feel less anxious. Less scatterbrained. More focused. After a bad session, I feel more lethargic.
